About the Scholarship
The Pacific Coast Council of Customs Brokers & Freight Forwarders Associations (PCC) and Avalon Risk Management, Inc., are offering five (5) scholarships to attend WESCCON 2012 in San Diego, October 18-21. This is the fifth year that the scholarship has been offered to promote education and industry involvement. The scholarship funds provided by Avalon will be used to cover the cost of coach airfare (if traveling by air) and 3 nights accommodation at the Loews Coronado Bay Resort. The PCC will waive the conference registration fee for scholarship recipients.
Each of the five PCC member associations (San Diego, Los Angeles, Northern California, Columbia River and Washington State) will select one qualified applicant for the scholarship award. If a member association is unable to select a qualified applicant another recipient will be chosen by the WESCCON General Chair and the PCC President from the pool of applicants received by the other four associations.
Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years experience in the logistics industry. Applications must be completed and submitted to your local association president on or before August 1 for consideration. All recipients will be notified by August 15 and provided necessary information for redeeming their scholarship. “WESCCON is a GREAT CONFERENCE to network. It has opened up some opportunities for me to meet with managers of CFS stations to discuss ongoing problems we have. I have met several brokers from their ports who are willing to assist with issues I have in their ports. This is TRULY UNIQUE.”
“The speakers were VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE.”
“Between sessions there was always time to get to know other participants and discuss many session topics.”
“Attending WESCCON was an EXTRAORDINARY EXPERIENCE . . . The amount of information shared through the different workshops was VERY VALUABLE and the networking opportunities were PRICELESS.”
“GREAT NETWORK of experts in the industry.”
“Participating at WESCCON broadened my perspective on the role and influence we have as Customs brokers. In addition, the program encouraged me to continue participating and seeking an active role in my local association.”
“Attending the WESCCON conference was an INVIGORATING EXPERIENCE. The issues presented in the workshops are truly some of the issues that I am faced with.”
“NETWORKING CAPABILITIES WERE ENDLESS.”
"Attendees shared their ideas about how to continue to grow in the customs broker’s field.”
"The industry is constantly changing, but attending WESCCON assured me that there are always solutions to problems. I am truly grateful for this WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE.”
“As an attendee at WESCCON, I was given ample opportunity to listen to keynote speakers, participate in numerous sessions and to ask questions of all the experts who were so carefully selected to speak on some of today’s most timely issues and trends.”
“At the very first social function . . . I got a vibe of “family.” There were so many kind people there who were more than happy to sit down and chat with a WESCCON rookie. I feel that not only did I head home with a pocket full of business cards, but at least a few lasting friendships, and plenty more acquaintances of which I’m sure some will eventually be nurtured into more solid working business relationships.”
“It was an INVALUABLE EXPERIENCE.”
